Despite being the cool cats that we are, we sometimes have to delve into the more serious part of running a business. Before we can do any work for you, we need you to agree to our terms and conditions. It’s ok though, they’re not too scary, see for yourself.
The relationship between Jordan Oldbury Copywriting and our client is one of a purely independent contractor nature. We are not an employee, partner, representative, or other related entity to the client and we will not act as such. Our relationship is on a project basis only.
Our rates vary from project to project depending on the work required.
We work by either a project rate or an hourly rate depending on the client and the nature of the work involved. Our hourly rate is $120 and our current day rate is $620. All of our rates include:
- A free quote
- A maximum of 3 drafts of the project specified in the original brief
- Minor amendments to your project – Major amendments may incur additional costs
- Advice and consultation by email as necessary
- A smile
Any additional work requested that isn’t covered in the original brief will be quoted separately and added to the original invoice. We will always provide a quotation and require confirmation prior to starting work.
We offer discounted rates for not-for-profits and charities.
The Copywriting Brief
All projects require a brief prior to work starting. The client is responsible for providing a brief that covers their requirements and the entire scope of work.
Jordan Oldbury Copywriting will work to the supplied brief and bears no responsibility for errors or missing information in the brief.
Commencement of Work
Before your project is undertaken, we require a confirmation email, stating:
- You have read and agree to the terms and conditions
- You are authorised to commission the project
- You agree to our fees
We will not commence work without these items.
We will make every effort to stick to agreed upon deadlines and will notify you immediately if we cannot keep a deadline. Don’t stress though, this rarely happens. If we do miss a deadline, Jordan Oldbury Copywriting has no responsibility or liability for financial loss based on missing the deadline.
All new clients are required to pay a 50% deposit up front. The remaining 50% will be invoiced upon completion. For larger projects, a staggered payment plan can be agreed prior to work commencing.
For projects under $1000, we require the project to be paid in full upfront. All invoices are sent electronically, unless agreed otherwise and are payable within 7 days of receipt.
We accept payments by bank transfer. Unfortunately, we do not accept cheques.
Termination of Copywriting Contract and Pause Clause
If a client fails to respond to communication within 14 days of paying the non-refundable deposit, the project will be terminated automatically. In the event that a client fails to provide feedback as per the project schedule milestones, the project will be considered ‘on hold’ and rescheduled dependent on current workload and availability.
International Payment Fees (PayPal and BACS)
International clients are expected to cover any additional currency conversion charges to the service provider (Jordan Oldbury Copywriting)
Please note that international clients may also be subject to their own transaction fees for sending money overseas by bank transfer.
Intellectual Property Rights
Upon completion of the project and once we have received payment, all copyrights are automatically transferred to the client. We reserve the right to use any extracts of our work for our portfolio.
Whilst we make every effort not to breach any copyright, you agree to indemnify us against action that may arise as a result of using our services.
Errors and Omissions
We make every effort to ensure that the project is proofread, grammatically accurate and factually referenced where applicable. However, we cannot guarantee that every project is completely free from typographical, grammatical or factual errors.
By using our services, you agree to indemnify us against any claim, including that of a third party, for compensation or damages resulting from the use of our written material or from unsought permissions to use our material.
Although every piece of written content we produce is original, the client accepts full responsibility for checking the authenticity of the project, including research materials and citations supplied and indemnify us of any compensation for loss or damages.
If you have any questions about our copywriting terms and conditions, just ask.
Well you got through it all, kudos to you. Now that we’re all set, let’s get to work.
